Our Mother's Day Sail

We are back from a sunny weekend in Fort Lauderdale, where we visited with friends from Cambridge, saw some mermaids and sailed the high seas.  It's all true!  See the pictures below (if ye dare).

YARRR!
If this face doesn't intimidate you, I don't know what would.  Nothin' scarier than a "Mama's boy" pirate.  We boarded the Bluefoot Pirate ship around 9am for a sail around the Intracoastal Waterway.  We located the key to our treasure chest and fought the bad pirate with water cannons - all within an hour!  Oh, and the mermaid thing is true too.  Having arrived in Fort Lauderdale in the late afternoon, we ate dinner at the Sheraton's Wreck Bar (in our hotel) out of convenience.  The place was made to look as though you were dining inside a ship and had large windows behind the bar that peered into a pool.  We happened to be there for their weekly Friday memaid dinner show.  Sorry to disappoint you, but there weren't any mermen and I did not take photos.  Lame as it was, the boys enjoyed waving to them as they swam by.

The sleepiest little pirate there was.

Chillin' at the pool with a nearly life-long buddy (of 2.5 yrs)
It's been almost a year since they last got together, but I really do think they remembered each other.  Aiden has a good memory and they took off playing like old friends.  In this photo, you might notice Aiden has a car in each hand.  He doesn't do much without a car in his hand.  Thankfully, only one ended up in the deep end and I was able to scrape it out with a long pole.

Who says Shuffleboard is an older persons game?
They didn't play by the rules exactly, but it kept two active boys entertained for the better part of an hour.  Aiden and his friend ran the pucks up and down the court and amazingly, no one was injured.

A truly stand-out moment
I'm not sure if this is entirely normal for a 5 month old, but Noah is an incredible stander.  He's been standing since he was about a month old.  And Monday, he stood completely on his own, holding on.  He is sooooo close to rolling, but hasn't done it yet.  He just plain prefers to stand.  It makes him happy.

Yep, the toes made it to the mouth.
In case you were wondering...

  1. Vivi, the slowest walker ever (next to me), didn't crawl until 10 months or stand until 12 months! But of course she was saying full sentences at 18 months. And she never stopped...
