My Little One is One

Every parent says it, but it's so true: I can't believe how fast the time has gone! In the span of about a week or two, Aiden began clapping, pointing and saying, 'Uh-oh' and 'Oh boy!'. We are now able to see just how much he comprehends. When we ask him where the stars are, Aiden looks upward and points - this is thanks to a special lamp in his bedroom that projects stars onto a dark ceiling. Sometimes, when asked, he will give a kiss. He also knows the words 'clap' and 'light', though he can't say them yet. These days, Aiden is absolutely fascinated by pressing buttons. He turns on the fan and (to my dismay) shuts down the computer.

His first birthday was so memorable. Unexpectedly, all of Don's siblings arrived with his parents (who we were expecting) to help celebrate the occasion. After his afternoon nap, we skyped with Grandma who watched a gleeful Aiden open his Thomas the Train push-and-ride. We enjoyed a family dinner of lasagna and observed Aiden play with his first piece of birthday cake. After opening the rest of his presents, we had a tired little man who went straight down for a good sleep.
